Today was a beautiful day, full of beautiful things. We woke up this morning, enjoyed some more of those great bagels (blueberry with blueberry cream cheese, just in-case you were wondering), and headed off to the Imperial Palace and Ueno park to enjoy the cherry blossoms.
First on our list was the palace, which only allowed you to enter the outer garden and walls due to the fact that it is still in use. There weren't a whole of interesting things but it was cool to see the moat and walls. Oh, there were also a group of people practicing kendo behind a wall. It was sad that we couldn't really see them because it sounded truly interesting.
After our tour of the palace we headed off to Ueno. Although the park was so full you could have swore they were giving out free money, it was still rather enjoyable. The cherry blossoms were in full bloom and lined the streets of the mile of walkways leading through the park. As usual there were large groups of people consuming alcohol and partying it up, which led to some interesting people watching.
In the center of the park was a small temple with rows of food vendors surrounding it. I enjoyed an odd gyro with a spicy sauce and a mixture of beef and fat-laden chicken, which was rather good - especially at 500 yen.
From the park we headed over to the Tokyo Dome (home of the Tokyo Giants baseball team) to take a spin on Thunder Dolphin - a roller coaster with one of the most intense drops ever. Randi was so scared she prolly piddled a little bit, but at least she road it. Man, I love roller coasters.
When coasters were done we decided to go on a hunt for a Rilakunna blanket for Randi and a Blythe doll for Melissa. Both of which were easily found out our favorite place, Nakano Broadway, along with a "sexy" figurine for Josh.
Once again, today was a good day and time well spent and from here on out don't expect a daily post. Randi and Josh will be leaving on Wednesday and the majority of our trip's major plans have been accomplished. We plan on enjoying parks, hanging out around the city, chillin' at cat cafe's and sleeping in late. You know - having a vacation. If something cool happens I might make a post, but until then, "peace out."
